What more goes on the paper when a contract is signed between the Municipality and MRF?
In the current system, municipalities have a contract with haulers and haulers have contracts with MRFs. These contracts are mostly relationship based and verbal. The only thing discussed is quantity.
What more goes on the paper when a contract is signed between MRF/ broker and broker/ remanufacturers/ mills?

The contracts are again mostly over the phone. Maybe add an option for trial load on agreed price. Remanufacturers and brokers will check the trial load and decide on some specs Also, can send some pictures. Current prices are based on history and quality over time.
How do remanufacturers or mills rate the business or bales received?
- Bale integrity - distorted or broken on the way
- Tying material
- Any liquids flowing
- UV rays exposed
- Dirt, mud, stones, grease, or glass
- Closures not removed
- Washed materials before converting to bales
It's mostly a physical examination of the baled received. If a certain problem repeats, then they might ask for better quality. The remanufacturers rate the bales as grade A, B or C. They might put in a pin and test one or two bales. May raise an issue for the below mentioned problems.
